Maybe the NFL will take a cue from the AAF and when a play is under review the microphone is left open and you can listen as the judge in the sky box tells the field judge the ruling. Speed things up and is interesting to hear what they have to say.

Yeah Butch, I'm with ya. I remember the stink that was raised when Nolan Ryan signed the first one million dollar a year contract. I guess that gives my age away.
Look on this to where the contracts stayed flat in the 50's and 60's. then exploded in the 70's and are still rising way beyond what the average working man salary does percentage wise. Americas's pastime is being priced out of america's fans pocket book.

As long as there are funds available on the credit cards they will go. Price don't mean anything.

I don’t remember when Nolan Ryan signed the first $1 million dollar contract but I do remember when Ryan Sandberg was the highest paid player in baseball. $7 million a year. Which was roughly $40k per game. Blew my mind. Now you can make that on the bench.

Clayton Kershaw 4 yr contract 138.28 mil guaranteed = 34.57 million per yr
2018 26 games 161.3 innings
$214,321 per inning
19.4 pitches per inning = 3130 or $11,040 per pitch

The salaries in baseball are absurd. They wonder why there's no one there, but no one can afford to go. That and the pace of the game. I've watched some late 70's early 80's ball, and it was quick. Pitch, nod, pitch, nod, ground out. Now we've got to make a life decision, call out the manager, shake your head a couple of times, do your magical juju dance, then pitch it only to have it be a ball.

Like how CBSSN did the commercials half-screen while the game was on the other half. Sure speeded things up.

Smart idea, keeps viewer engaged. In a boring game commercial breaks greatly increases likely hood of viewer changing to doing something else without returning.

Fake News.... 250 million payroll bailout? ... maybe 250K bailout would be more like it?

54 players per team, each player is paid 80k per year 54 x 80k = 4.32 million team payroll
8 teams x 4.32 m each = 34.56 million payroll for the entire year

250 million is a lot of money, enough to build 10 miles of wall... (barring government cost overruns)

AAF needs to average 19,200 attendance per game at $45 ticket to meet 4.32 mil payroll
Games to date average 19,417 in paid attendance... 11,751 low - 29,176 high
ticket prices $10 low - $155 high $44 average

Arizona Hot Shots and Memphis Express both under 12,000 attendance
Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego all over 20,000

AAF tv partners - cbs, nfl network, turner sports

Falls into the category of "Any press is Good press".... and it works... got ya talking about
the AAF and in the sales world that's better than being ignored.
