It could be E. coli (K99E) or viral - Coronavirus or rotavirus.

I suggest First Defense Intranasal. It does not include protection for rotavirus. For that, you would need Calf Guard which is an MLV for Coronavirus and rotavirus but it does not cover E. Coli.

Our cows run with breeding age dairy heifers and across the fence from 5 month old ones. Since we started this process have had no issues

In this area it is not if you get scours but when and how bad. We have been vaccinating and changing mineral until we think it is about the best we can do.
4KC worked well for 10 years and now Scourbos is seeming to do a better job. Having said that, last year Scourbos 9 was unavailable due to back order. We used Scourbos 4 and Scourguard 4KC in conjunction with each other to cover what SB 9 does. Least incidence of scours ever and it wasn't a good weather spring.
We won't quit vaccinating. The vaccine just eliminates enough strains that what shows up responds to treatment. We have both gotten good enough that we can spot a problem before the calf knows he's sick.
Seeing all those sick, dying, day to week old calves and remembering the antibiotic bill from 1996 is still framed in our minds.

Vaccinations, cheaper than whiskey. ;-)
