Re: New bull
They look good. Looks like he's doing what you wanted him to do, making them taller.

Re: New bull
Really want for grass to start growing. It'd be a good boost for calves to to put on more meat. These two are both bull calves from heifers born in January. Heifers don't have much of milk, so calves need to steal from other cows.

Finally other two heifers are getting ready to calve. Haven't seen them inheat, but they should be due starting this week.
One heifer(in the pic) is 33months old from a 15mo heifer. Another heifer is 29months old and last year her dam had 160lbs bull calf(full brother to the heifer). Both risky girls.

One cow incalf to this bull is on 286th day today. Should calve any time now.

Yeah, it's wet and muddy now, but it's getting drier bit by bit and more warm and sunny days. Cows have a shed where can sleep, but now all sleep outside on the hills, where it's not muddy.
~2/3 of cows have calved now. Most of the rest will calve until May. There will be a couple calving abit later, in May-June.

Re: New bull
Finally one cow calved. 293days gestation, 90lbs heifer calf, very easy calving. 4th calf for the cow, the 1st heifer.

Re: New bull
Thank you. We are pretty happy with calvings. Could say that he's easier calving bull than our previous one. His calves have long legs and slim bodies, while the previous ones calves were more meaty round shaped and shorter.
Would like that our calvings were more concentated and would last for not more than two- three months, but as long as we keep bull all the time in the herd can't have that.

Re: New bull
29months old heifer has calved this morning. Has a heifer calf, ~88lbs. Calved herself and pretty quickly. She's a full sister to 160lbs bull calf, so we were quite worried that she wouldn't have big calves as her dam. Luckily she has a normal calf. Calf started nursing quickly.

One heifer is still waiting. Other cows due to him are close too.

Re: New bull
Had a pretty busy weekend. One this bull's calf was born this morning, one yesterday and one on Friday. Only one cow left from his summer herd. Later we brought him to the main herd after selling elder bull. All calves were born without assistance. 2 bulls from cows ( one 299days gestation) and one heifer from 1st timer.
Some pics:
Today born boy, 299days gestation. A pretty decent boy, should be over 100lbs, but just like all this bull's calves not very much of meat.

Friday born boy. Cow has small bones, but calf has one of the thickest legs I've ever seen on the newborn calf.

Heifer with newborn heifer calf. Really like the her udder. She's out of one 15mo heifer.

Re: New bull
March 29th born heifer out of 1st timer. Less than half a month old, but shows very good shape. Gonna be one of the best.

Re: New bull
Another calf into big boy's count. A nice small bull calf out of LimoxAngusx heifer. Calving no problems, suckling no problems and mothering no problems.
All what you need.

Re: New bull
Thank you. Hopefully he'll throw good calves. We need this bull to increase the size of cows mainly. As it looks now, he won't have better looking calves than the previous bull, despite having better score in exterior.
