I have a 16 month old bull that we have been showing.
I noticed this weekend, when he begins to urinate, he will extend his penis 6-7", and urinate; however, the whole time he is urinating, he is kicking/stamping his feet. He appears to be experiencing pain.
He is eating good, and seems to be drinking good.
Any thoughts? Treatment? My vet is out of town this week.

Ammonium Chloride will help dissolve the crystals if this is the problem.

High grain content and too much phosphorus in the ration.

Re: Bull Painful Urinating
Years ago I had a nearly finished holstein steer with it and Vet recommended slaughter.
I took him in, and buyer made me a low ball offer saying there was a chance the carcass would be condemned.
I said bull shimmel... you're robbing me.
He offered to buy him on grade/yield basis and to allow me to personally follow the carcass through the slaughter/packing plant process. I said... "It's a deal." It was an interesting learning experience. But, son of a bxtch the usda inspector condemned the carcass...urinary tract infection had ruined all the meat and I didn't get paid anything.
grrrr ..... I should have taken the low ball offer.
