I recall reading somewhere that you said your husband is a firefighter?

I don't believe she ever said that. Might have a son in law or something but not her husband.

Wrong.
If we'd of know this we'd of picked our own cotton.

75% of fire fighters are volunteer, and he's a volunteer. He's assn Chief and son is Captain. They've been on the department for a long time. He only gets calls in the middle of the night or when dinner is ready. :lol2: . I don't do the fireman stuff, I help with fundraisers, clean the station, that kind of stuff... He got into it after we lost 80 acres of pines to a fire. Figured he'd give back, they saved a large block of trees, well, forest service did.....He's a well respected man of the community where is his well liked.
We were chatting earlier while we were planing some wood... He's still thinking about futures in the marketing of our calves...I don't know enough about that, but he does.

Not sure what his angle is but I apologize for not knowing your husband is a volunteer firefighter.
You're not paranoid, they really are out to get you!

No angle. I simply was asking the question because I was confused by some conflicting statements. I recalled she said her husband was a firefighter but then has stated they were fulltime ranchers, just wanted to get it cleared up. When some says they're a firefighter, with no prefaced qualification of the term, I figure they mean a fulltimer.

Yes there was. Thanks to all who took time to share their experiences. I presented a program over 20 years ago that selling value added calves would be the norm and those that didn't would be docked to cover the extra medicine and increased death loss. It was received about as well as Cowgirl8 receives suggestions.

Seeing how the NETBIO sale at Sulphur Springs has established itself as a way for small producers to take advantage of selling in load lots and producers like Jedstivers can send straightened out calves hundreds of miles to be sold is proof that what I said that night is coming true.
