Re: What are you eating today?
Thank you Craig Miller
. It is great with cold meats or used as a cold salad. Here's a recipe if you are interested.
Pickled Curried Beans
Ingredients
2 kg fresh green beans
1 kg onion
3 cups (750 ml) white vinegar
3 cups (750 ml) white sugar
3 tablespoons (45 ml) curry powder
2 tablespoons (30 ml) turmeric
1 tablespoon (15 ml) salt
½ cup (125 ml) cornflour
Method
Slice the beans finely, chop onions finely.
Poach/boil together until they start to soften. Take care not to overcook the beans, you want it to be al dente. Drain off excess water.
Make the sauce while the onion and beans cook together: use the cornflour and a tablespoon water to make a smooth paste. Heat the rest of the sauce ingredients gently in a small saucepan and stir until the sugar dissolved. Increase the temperature until it starts boiling, add the cornflour mixture and stir until thickened.
Once the sauce is ready, add it to the bean and onion mix and boil together for a minute or two. Pour boiling mixture into sterilized bottles and seal.

Puffball mushrooms, fresh from the cowpasture, sliced and sauteed in butter. Mmm.

Farm to Table event last night.

Roasted root vegetables.

Cajun dirty rice and slow roasted beef.

Pear butter, goat cheese pie with crispy cocoa meringue and caramel sauce. Amazingly good!

My first Full Monty burger, pimento cheese, American cheese, egg over medium, bacon, all the way. Pretty dang good burger and for dessert waffle cake balls. There's a first for everything.
If we'd of know this we'd of picked our own cotton.

Same as every morning. Oatmeal.
That 'full monty' burger' looks good, especially with that real mater slice on it.
I prefer thicker sliced fries tho.

A guy I work with ate a bowl of oatmeal every morning at break time to help with his cholesterol...for a week or so. Then he switched to oatmeal cookies.
