This too, Shall Pass

Postby Bright Raven » Fri Jan 12, 2018 4:41 pm

This is the most challenging weather event I believe I have seen here since I retired and started raising cattle.

It was 60 degrees as late as 6 pm yesterday. Rain became heavy this morning. Cattle are wet. Wind has picked up to 13 mph coming straight out of the North. Temperature is now down to 33 degrees. Will continue falling until it reaches 8 degrees Fahrenheit. It is raining, coming in at a slant. Will turn to a wintery mix and continue all night. I expect they will be ice cube cows by morning.

Mom always raised her eyebrows and said with a resigned look on her face, "And this too, Shall pass". I hope so....

You all are running about 24 hours behind us. Did that crap here yesterday. But it did shoot all the way up to 24 this afternoon.

Ditto. All the cows had ice on their backs & tears frozen on their faces. Didn't have to break ice yesterday because the wind was horrendous - 40 mph gusts - but it was about 2" thick this morning. Warming up to the low 40's Sun then back down to the 20's for the high until Wed. Maybe. I diligently look at the forecast yet it's rarely accurate.

I am looking for Gores global warming.
We have snow in the forecast again that is the third time this year.
That is not supposed to happen here.

In the 7 years I lived in TX (Austin area) it snowed once but we did have 2 ice storms that literally shut down the city.

And in just a few short months we'll be cursing the heat.

Sounds horrendous. We have the heat here at the moment but I'm not cursing it, it just slows me down somewhat.
