Not sure how you call it, or how it should be called in English... The factory buys cattle from people for a set price. It's a big company buying cattle for slaughtering, producing meat products and exporting it to the other countries.

Factory = (meat) packers
sheds = barns
crush = squeeze chute
race = alley way
And overseas its much more common to keep bulls (and horns) intact where as North America steers most male animals and dehorns.
Bullock = steer
Meal = Grain

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned my gender quite a while ago once...
In UK, Ireland it's more common to castrate and dehorn bulls. It's not in my country. They get some discounts at the sales if cattle are horned despite their quality. Not a problem here. But some people do it. I actually prefer horned animals more now, as we have a horrible situation with wolves here.

Farmer - It wasn't as much the fact that they were bulls, as much as the QUALITY of the bulls that surprised me you were butchering them. They really did look good.

Crossbred bulls have no value here, except for being a meat. You can't show a crossbred bull as a farther of the calf. So those calves, which we got from a crossbred bull years ago has an unknown written in their sire section. Had some thoughts about using the red one for some cows in place of our pure limo and registering all calves sired by the limo, but the red has a risk to produce some big, heavily muscled calves at birth, so stayed away from this thought. All hopes given to the AI calves next year, that they'll be better quality.

Sold another bull for butchering. 15months old 7/8Limo. Had an idea to put him with heifers, but stayed with AI this time. Have three full sisters and one half sister in the herd. Mom is raising a bull calf this year by another sire.

The 2nd from the right.

Half brother.

The kill-out should be over 60%. Been weighed a bit over a week ago. Weighed 1260lbs. Hopefully some good fat layer, but he sure is abit young.
