A dreaded time for me as I'm a massive cow hoarder but I have to get a plan on when to sell my 1 year old steer. I wont send him for processing myself and I don't send them to auction, I like to sell my cows on local sites. Do you think its better for me to sell him now at this age or feed him another year and sell him then? I have the space to keep him a year but what is a better business plan?

He's a weird little cow. I think the dam is a mini of some sort. She's maybe 700lbs so I cant imagine him getting too much better. The sire was a red angus.

Sharpen a pencil, figure out how much it costs to keep him over winter.. Prices aren't bad now, they could be good in the spring for him too.. but in a couple months calves will come off the range, prices will be down a bit.. and next summer? well.. who knows what can happen

Thanks all! I took your advice. I sold him for $1,000. I felt that was a good price for him!
