It seems we are seeing a lot more photos that may possibly be retouched again. Haven't seen so many since the 60's. Surely makes a sale catalog or ad look uniform.
Bar Six Manufacturing in Protection, Ks. 620-622-4456 has made those for people and I bet they can fix you up special order. I think they have quite a few dealers in Oklahoma that handle their feeders or I am sure you can deal direct. Protection is about 60 miles north of Woodward, Oklahoma. You...
We have a Hillsboro Endura we sure like. 7x24, 3 compartment. It is laminated construction, smooth sided with a 10 year warranty. We have just had it about 18 mos. Really quiet and solid. Can't hear us coming like some trailers. All the gates work really well. Made in north central Kansas...
With regards to The Pawnee Mixer cattle. The line was developed by John M. Lewis and Sons of Larned, Kansas. The sons were Walter and Joe.
Joe's son Johnny was also heavily involved the last 20 years or so of the operation . After Walter and Joe's death in the 90's the herd was dispersed and...
We used him where we worked in the '90s. Good udders, a lot of milk. Could use some more volume to the cattle and they milked so much that their maintenance requirements were possibly too high for our area.
We forgot to add that we have a booklet Firestone made up for Royal Jupiter. According to it
Royal Jupiter was the 5th International Grand Champion they purchased and toured. 3 4-H steers and 2 University steers. In those days the Universities were quite competitive in the Open Steer Shows...
Very neat video with a lot of forgotten history. We really enjoyed it! Firestone Tire & Rubber also purchased the 1946 International Grand Champion Steer shown by Oklahoma A & M and fitted by Orville Deewall, Mike's Father. We thought that you may enjoy seeing a couple photos.
Royal...
Really nice set of cows. They look good for the type of winter they have gone through. We love to see a good group of Hereford cows- it makes such a neat photo.
We really like our flatbeds. They are a lot more forgiving if you bump a post or a cow. We have a Hydra-Bed and you can think of a lot of uses besides hauling and unrolling bales. Bale arms work pretty well to tie a cow to and doctor a foul foot. If I can get her roped! Like the tool boxes under...
The main thought that I came away with is that they are looking for Hereford females-papered and commercial. The American exporter told me that some of the exporters are buying up anything that looks to be Hereford at ANY cattle sale and is stockpiling them for their next order. Wild!
We had a great time with the Russian delegation that visited our Hereford cattle herd. They are in the process of importing a large number of U.S. cattle. The cattle are being housed at a feedlot in Western Kansas. The Russians were in the area viewing the shipment and wanted to see a...
