Sudangrass and Pearl Grazing and Hay

I haven’t planted Pearl Millet before but plan to throw it in the mix next year. How do you like it and how is it different from haygrazer?

    Found Livestock

I found the owners. I don’t have any answers about the laws but the situation ended in the best possible way.

    Finishing Options

I’ve planted cowpeas for about a half dozen years. The cows really like them and they put on weight when eating them. They do well in hot and dry conditions and I will probably always plant some in my summer annuals. The high protein content in the middle of summer is definitely a plus. I liked...

    Found Livestock

Thanks for all the replies. The horses are pretty poor and wild. I don’t think they’re worth much and may have been purposely abandoned. We spoke with the one neighbor that has horses The closest thing to a pertinent law I have found says it’s up to the sheriff to sell the horses and make the...

    Finishing Options

I had a similar thought. I’m grazing a mix of haygrazer, cowpeas, and sunn hemp right now. They’re all getting fat on it. (We have the mommas on it too. The cows are the fattest they’ve ever been.) I was planning on selling a steer on the rail to know what kind of beef I will get out of it. Is...

    Found Livestock

I figure if they jumped the cattle guard to get in, they can jump it to get out. Sounds like this problem might solve itself.

    Found Livestock

Hypothetically of course, what does one do if three horses showed up on your property? They have no brands. I’ve searched Oklahoma statues and haven’t found the answer yet. The sheriff’s office nor the highway patrol has been of any help. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Crabgrass

I bought some from his grandson a couple years ago. They were in Thomas at the time. They both seem like good people.

Wheat and austrian peas for hay

Austrian Winter Field peas don't need the inoculant. I never used it and get superb results. Local feed-seed farm store, owned/run by a family that probably farms more acreage in the area as anybody. They told my when I made my first purchase that it wasn't needed but have it as an extra...

Wheat and austrian peas for hay

The peas do well for me in zone 6b and have survived down to zero Fahrenheit. They’ll add protein to the hay and are good for the soil. Make sure you inoculate them.

    What kind of bait?

I think I was just drinking too much and worrying too much last night. They’re trained to come to the horn and they won’t have 24/7 access to the field. Thanks for the replies.

    What kind of bait?

Thanks for the good advise, Sim, I’m just worried about abruptly changing their diet.
