Help Support CattleToday:

My family has raised purebred Polled Herefords since the 1930's. I grew up around the farm and worked on it full time for a few years after college.

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Animal Science. I worked on the Beef Farm there for a semester.

I worked on a ranch in Wyoming for two summers during college. Did some flood irrigation, helped with brandings, and made hay.

Spent several months working on a sow farm before I was approached about my current job.

I work for a farm that has crops and cattle, about 30 miles south of where I grew up. There is a purebred Angus cowherd of about 75 cows that we use to make bulls for the several hundred head of commercial cows on the ranch. The commercial cows are mostly Angus based. We raise our own replacement heifers and feed out many of our own steers in a 1,000 head confinement barn. My main duties are the daily management of the confinement barn and being the right hand of the cow boss. I love my job and I really enjoy the people I work with and for.

I got married in the fall of 2019 and my wife and I bought our first two cow-calf pairs from the family farm in the spring of 2020. In late summer 2020, we welcomed our son into this world. I look forward to sharing my love of animal agriculture with him in the years to come.
