Is pinkeye an issue for you, Murray?
I have to vaccinate my baby calves for pinkeye. Come late summer they will all have it. Doesn't seem to bother my cows or older animals.

My baby calves will eat wood shake shingles off the side of an old building. Never seen the cows do it. Haven't seen the calves at it for a while.... I did give the group a high magnesium tub a few weeks ago.

I think the bull you described would be purchased at a discount. Then castrated and re-sold as a feeder steer. ...Just guessing your yearling bull is around 1000 lbs.
