    Building a Longhorn Herd

I guess thats what makes the world go around. To each his own. I just pointed out that Longhorns are an important point in Texas history and why I like them to the point mine are all steers. I run angus along with them. Funny what's important to a Texan the rest of the world could care less...

    Building a Longhorn Herd

Thank you. I find it interesting that everyone is concerned about what LH bring at the sale barn. From everything I have seen, the money is not in the beef price on them. It’s the “collector” value you might say. A 600-700# LH bull is bringing approx $2000. I can’t get close to that for our...

Hauling cattle, Own Trailer vs Hired

I would like yall’s opinion on hauling cattle in hot weather. I’ve got to pick up a couple of yearling longhorn steers and right now it’s been between 100 and 104 deg F. It is only about a 90 minute run but I can only pick them up in the afternoon. Would you just wait till this heat spell...

My new crush (chute to you people)

FWIW - square tubing is much more expensive than round pipe. I think in todays times, all of the pipe connections are done by machine so the labor is less and the material is less. And again FWIW - square tubing is much stronger. Looks like a very well made chute that will last a long time
