The Branch Ranch hosted its 4th annual Brangus Bull Bonanza on Saturday, November 9, 2002. The ranch staff welcomed over 250 guests of buyers and spectators to the ranch near Mansfield, Louisiana. The diverse crowd representing eight states enjoyed a warm, bright but windy day. After a morning for viewing the offerings and a delicious lunch, The Branch Ranch presented its best offering to date with an outstanding group of registered Brangus bulls marked for their carcass quality and impressive data. A total of seventy one (71) bulls were sold averaging $2,195 per lot, or a gross of approximately $156,000. The highest selling bull, Lot 72, BR Mr. Calypso 610/L, sold for $4,700. As part of the marketing program of The Branch Ranch, a total of 246 consignment commercial females from the Black Gold program were sold. Thirty seven (37) open females sold for an average of $545 and 209 bred females sold for an average of $996, or grosses of approximately $21,000 and $208,000, respectively. The highest selling opens females sold for $685 each, or $2,740 for a lot of four (4). The highest selling bred females sold for $1,300 each, or $6,500 for a lot of five (5).
