Tommy Clark, managing partner of Mystic Hill Farms, Culpeper, Va., brought a bull and a heifer as examples of the kind of calves one could expect from the flush of Miss Lifeline K0020 he was selling in the Gems of the NAILE Sale. While the calves were on display, enough people asked about the bull calf MHF Cornerstone M210 that Clark placed the prospect in the sale as an added lot. Auctioneer Stout took the bids quickly and, as the bidding reached the $5,000 mark, only two Braunvieh operations, Findley Farms, Box Springs, Ga., and L&B's Broken Oak Ranch, Seguin, Texas, remained in the race. When bidding ended at $7,700, L&B's Broken Oak Ranch had purchased full interest, full possession and all semen sales in the promising black, polled prospect. MHF Cornerstone M210 was an April 6, 2002, son of RCB Mr Slate out of the Lifeline cow.

The next lot to sell was the flush from Miss Lifeline K0020, also consigned by Mystic Hill. The buyer was guaranteed four pregnancies from the bull of the buyer's choice. Not to be denied the opportunity to own some produce from Lifeline, Tom Findley, Findley Farms, won this bidding contest at $5,500.

The sale's third high selling lot was BRG Arrawahna K504, a black polled heifer bred to Polled Thunder for a January 2003 calf consigned by Findley Farms and purchased for $2,800 by R&D Farms, Franklin, Ky.

Double L Braunvieh, Jackson, Mo., sold RVL Black Knight LU32, a black, polled purebred bull for $2,500 to McClung Farms, Bloomington, Ind. McClung also purchased Double L's other bull consignment for $1,100.

Broce Ranch, Evergreen, Colo., paid $2,250 for MS RDF Polled Lilly, a polled purebred by Polled Thunder, consigned by R&D Farms, Franklin, Ky.

Volume buyers were Indian Mound Farms, Mt. Sterling, Ky, and Double J Braunvieh, Greenbrier, Tenn., each with three head.
