Mount Sterling, Ky.

The beautiful Chenault Livestock Center, Mount Sterling, Ky. was the host of the Ninth Annual Edition of the Gelbvieh Blue Grass Gold Sale and the Jordan Farms Dispersal. With the abundant rainfall and the hot humid spring weather the conditions were ideal for a successful event and when the final gavel dropped the sale participants enjoyed the results of one of the best Gelbvieh Sales in the Southeast.

Long-time and respected participant in this sale S&S Gelbvieh, Arthur and David Slaughter from Fredonia, Ky. consigned the high selling pair once again. Lot 61/61A brought $4,200 when Campbell Gelbvieh from Newberry, Ind. took home the phenomenal TLR Cocoa 12/6/02 heifer calf home for $2,400 and Clay John Farms (Purlear, N.C.) purchased the '97 Carolina Roych sired cow for $1,800. This was truly a special pair that will impact both breeders in a most positive manner.

Arthur Slaughter followed this dandy pair with yet another pair (Lots 59/59A) that left the ring for $3,400. The buyer, Porter and Margaret McCoy from Burkesville, Ky., will definitely enjoy the benefits of the strong black genetics in the dam was sired by Black Image, the calf at side was by Extra and the dam was safe to Cocoa!

Lot 27/27A, was the next high selling pair at $2,900 for the Jordan Farms Dispersal. Here was a '99 Extra sired daughter with a marvelous ALS Freedom's Reflection heifer calf at side. The proud owner of this pair is now Gary Coffey from Moulton, Ala.

Topping the yearling open heifer portion of the sale at $2,300 was Lot #5 offered by the Jordan's. Purchasing this red Freedom sired daughter out of a fantastic Polled Summit dam was Circle R Gelbvieh, Ron Rose from Richmond, Ky. a longtime supporter of the Blue Grass sale.

The sale was steady from front to back.
