An outstanding set of Gelbvieh females was presented at the Chenault Ag Center in Mount Sterling, Ky. on October 9. This annual event will be scheduled for the spring of 2005. The sale consisted of mostly cow/calf pairs that were well received by buyers from six states. Lot 10/10A was the high selling pair consigned by Bar None Ranch of Marion, N.C. This beautifully made Freedom daughter sold with a Celebrity bull calf at side to Beech Run Farms of Albright, W.V. for $2,700. Beech Run Farms also added lot 14/14A at $2,200 consigned by S & S Gelbvieh of Fredonia, Ky.
Claude Reynolds of Crab Orchard was final bidder at $2,600 on Lot 1/1A, a powerful Polled Summit female with a Freedom heifer at side. This was one of many quality consignments from Lazy S Gelbvieh of Ball Ground, Ga. Brad Burke of Ewing purchased Lot 24/24A at $2,500. This powerful Black Husker female caught the eye of many in attendance. Burke came right back for Lot 6/6A at $2,600. This quality Black Savvy daughter sported a powerful King bull calf.
Bill Brasel of Danville, Ill., picked up Lot 37/37A for $2,400. This attractive, two year old King daughter had a Mach One show heifer prospect at side. ClayJohn Farms of Purlear, N.C., purchased Lot 43/43A for $2,400. This homozygous black, RC female had a two day old Mach One heifer calf at side on sale day.
Volume buyers for the sale were Larry Clark with seven lots, Lee Philpot with six lots, and Blackhawk Cattle Company with six lots.
