The secret's out! Camp Cooley Ranch's 2007 Best Kept Secret Angus Sale registered Angus cattle buyers from 17 states on June 2, in Franklin, Texas. The sale offered proven Angus donors, pairs, bred females and show heifer prospects.

Lot 3, LSF Blossom 5357 LG312, a donor cow/calf pair was the high selling lot that sold for $31,000 to a new Angus breeder, JOJ Farms of Tyler, Texas. Lot 3, a Connealy Frontline daughter, is the dam of senior herd sire, Cooley Sparky 3032.

Southern Cattle Company, Marianna, Fla., purchased Lot 47, Ms Cooley VRD 205M2, a fall-bred female, for $20,000. She posts exceptional carcass value with a $B that ranks in the top fraction of one percent in the breed.

Lot 41, Twin Eagles Blackcap 953M was a 3N1 offering selling to Vintage Angus Ranch, Modesto, Calif., for $12,000. This Bushwacker daughter's dam is a full sister in blood to the famed GAR Precision 2536, the breed's #1 ranked $B female.

Lot 18, Eagle 1407 Isabel 273M, a fall-bred cow, was purchased by Twin Lakes Ranch, Fairfield, Texas, for $11,000. This impressive female ranks in the top one percent for $B and IMF.

Twelve fall-bred 3N1's averaged $2,370.83. Fall pairs averaged $2,911.90 on 21 lots. Spring pairs averaged $3,008.33 on 72 lots. Bred cows averaged $2,512 on 63 lots. Nine exposed females averaged $2,533.33.

The sale grossed $487,300 on 177 lots, averaging $2,753.11.

Customers were greeted with traditional Camp Cooley hospitality. Those who could not attend the sale bid by phone or on the internet via liveauctions.tv.

Camp Cooley Ranch continues to offer private treaty sales. The next cattle offering will be the Camp Cooley Belles of the South Female Sale on September 8, 2007 in Franklin, Texas. Four hundred registered Brangus females will be available at this sale.
