The 2010 Clemson Bull Test Sale was the fourth best in the 40-year history of test. The 29 bulls sold for $63,900 � an average of $2,203.45 per bull. This was $210.80 per bull higher than last year. The bulls averaged 480 days-old, 53.5 inches tall, 6.1 frame score, 1,539 lbs, 3.21 lbs/day WDA and 39.1 cm scrotal circumference on Tuesday before the sale. In the last 30 Clemson Bull Test Sales, 1,409 bulls were sold for $2,576,575 � an average of $1,826.66 per bull.

Buyers were from South Carolina -- 24 bulls, North Carloina -- 3 bulls, Georgia -- 1 bull and Nebraska -- 1 bull. Several producers purchased two bulls. Black Crest Farms consigned the two top-selling bulls at $3,500 each. JAC, Inc. at Yonges Island, S.C. purchased the #25 junior Angus bull and Krab Ranch at Ogallala, Neb. purchased the #26 junior Angus bull. Shuffler Farms consigned the third high-seller at $3,400 -- purchased by Smith Farms at Fairview, N.C.

Following the bull sale, 8 pens with 20 open, yearling replacement heifers were sold in the 2010 Clemson Heifer Sale for $17,025 � an average of $851.25 per heifer for the 27th annual heifer sale. This was the fifth highest heifer sale average. The 20 heifers averaged 879 lbs. on sale day.

Circle R Farms at Easley was the volume buyer with four pens and purchased the top two pens of crossbred heifers from the Clemson Beef Cattle Farm. Circle R bought Clemson's pen 7 of 2 black white-face heifers for $1,025 each and pen 8 of gray heifers for $975 each.
