The 6th Annual “It's All Black & White” Bull Sale at the Montgomery Stockyard in Montgomery, Ala. got off to a great start as the first bull in the ring was also the highest selling lot. Auctioneer Chad “Cracker” Johnson accepted the high bid of $5,000 from Ralph Cole of Greensboro, Ala., for Lot 202. This two year Chi-Angus bull, consigned by CK Cattle of Hope Hull, Ala. ranked in the top 10 percent of the breed for WW EPD's and the top 15 percent for YW. Two lots were co-second high sellers. Lot 203, another two year old Chi-Angus from CK, with top five percent BW and four percent YW EPD's, brought $4,800 from Jay Hatcher of Greensboro, Ala. Donnell Farms from Bellwood, Ala., selected Lot 129, a two year old Charolais with the top three percent WW and top one percent YW EPD's from Meadows Creek Farm of Columbia, Ala., for $4,800.

Overall, 115 bulls sold for an average of $2,950. Buyers were from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Mississippi and Lousisna. Fifteen two year old Chi-Angus from CK and Circle E Farm of Fort Deposit, Ala., sold for an average of $3,978. Six yearling Chi-Angus from CK sold for $3,067. The high seller was bought by Jerry Till of Minter, Ala., for $3,500.

Twenty-one two year old Charolais bulls from Meadows Creek Farm averaged $3,700. One 2 year old Charolais x Angus brought $3,400. 5-yearling Charolais averaged $3,520. Henry Golson of Fort Deposit, Ala., bought Lot 135, a yearling son of WDZ Firemaker 6063, for $4,000.

Four two year old Simmental bulls from Pintlala Cattle Co. of Hope Hull, Ala., averaged $2,750. Josh Clark of Quincy, Fla., bought Lot 335 for $2,900. Six yearling Simmental from Pintlala averaged $2,084. Cecil Vaughn of Pike Road, Ala., selected Lot 344 for $2,400.

Twelve two year old Brangus bulls from Wilson & Wilson Brangus of Troup, Texas, averaged $2,650. Donnell Farms of Bellwood, Ala., selected Lot 401 for $3,100.

Thirty-three two-year old Angus from Pintlala and CK averaged $2,517. Co-high sellers, Lots 215 & 216, both went to Jason Green of Louisville, Ala., for $3,700. Thirteen yearling Angus from Pintlala and CK averaged $2,162. High seller for $3,100 was Lot 223 going to Jerry Morehead of French Lick, Ind.

At the conclusion of the bull sale, 240 lots of commercial females were offered. Female consigners were Boddock Farms of Lowndesboro, Ala., Salter Farms of Milton, Fla., Eric Smith of Carrolton, Ala., Cleveland Land & Cattle of Prattville, Ala. and HCC Farms of Hope Hull, Ala.
