Cool temperatures and brisk fall weather produced a hot Brangus sale in Georgia. A standing room only crowd including 167 buyers from 13 states were in attendance at the Salacoa Valley Farms Buy the Numbers Sale in Fairmount, Ga. Brangus enthusiasm was rampant as the crowd was greeted by a splendid offering of top quality Brangus Bulls and Females from Salacoa Valley Farms and The Oaks Brangus, Newnan, Ga., backed by real world performance attributes. The two days activities were kicked off Friday afternoon when all the six and seven year old cows, including donors and herd bull mothers, from both operations were sold.

The day's high selling female was Lot 105, Oaks Miss Csonka 1302T. This proven donor featured eight EPD traits in the breed's top 35 percent or greater and sold to Draggin M Brangus, Eldorado, Ark., and Johnston Farm, Montgomery, Ala., for $25,000. She was consigned by The Oaks.

The second high selling female lot, at $19,500 was 65 and 65A. Oaks MS Unitas 541W6, a big numbered and balanced EPD trait cow safe to Csonka sold to Cold Creek Ranch, Marietta, Ga., for $9,500 while Roadruck Brangus, Guntersville, Ala., paid $10,000 to own her Csonka heifer calf at side.

The third high seller was Lot 38, MS Brinks Lambert 535U9 with eight EPD traits in the breed's top 30 percent or greater and top one percent IMF EPD. She sold to Westall Ranch, Arabela, N.M. for $19,000. This proven donor was from the Salacoa Valley cow herd.

The fourth high selling female, at $17,000 was Lot 68 and 68A. Clover Ranch Lineville, Ala., paid $12,000 to own Lot 68A, MS Salacoa Eisenhower 535B8, while Barry and Valerie Lewis, Okeechobee, Fla., paid $5,000 to own her dam, SVF 820R8 535U131, who boasted a 377 day calving interval and well balanced EPDs.

The day's top selling bull was Lot 152, Oaks High Choice 99A1. This powerful Swift son posted big performance EPDs driven by huge ratios across the board. The gavel fell at $40,000 and he sold to K & R Broken Bar Ranch, Bennington, Okla.

The second high selling bull at $30,000 was Lot 154, Oaks Manning 30T 541Z71. He boasted top one percent WW and YW and top two percent REA EPDs and is out of a $70,000 dam. He was purchased by Burke Brangus Farm, Waynesboro, Ga.

Hayman's 711 Ranch purchased the third high selling bull when they paid $27,000 to own Lot 150, Big Cypress of Salacoa 99A3. This big rib eyed son of Stonewall bosted seven EPD traits in the breed's top 35 percent or greater.

Hardee Farms, Chiefland Fla., paid $25,500 to own the days fourth high seller when they purchased Brighton of Salacoa 392A3, Lot 151. This son of IMF trait leader Lambert, scanned over six percent and ranks in the be breed's top one percent for IMF.

Truitt Brangus, Auburn, Ala., paid $20,000 to own Lot 153, Hollywood of Salacoa 23A53. This son of New Vision is out of a full sister to Eisenhower and posts Big and balanced growth EPDs with high end carcass values.
