SALE REPORT
GENETRUST AT CAVENDER'S NECHES RIVER RANCH SALE HELD APRIL 25

April 25, 2015
Jacksonville, Texas

An enthusiastic crowd full of familiar faces, as well as breeders new to the Brangus breed, filled the sale pavilion at Cavender's Neches River Ranch to appraise a tremendously youthful offering of registered and commercial Brangus females. The offering of GENETRUST genetics proved to meet the attendee's expectations as bidders aggressively purchased the offering from start to finish. Consistency of the auction matched the consistency of the offering.

Earning the title of high selling lot for the day was a 3N1, in lots 28 and 28A. A moderate framed, super complete individual, as well as a maternal sister to Roll Tide, Lot 28 MS DMR Goodnight 222Z3 was purchased by the trio of astute cattlemen at Clover Ranch, Marietta, Ga., for $9,500. At her side and one of the most popular heifer calves of the day, Lot 28A followed her mother in type and kind and represented what has made her sire so accepted by the industry. MS DMR Coronado 222B12 was select by Jay Posey, Wayne, Okla., for $6,000, bringing the Lot 28 consignment from Draggin' M Ranch to a $15,500 valuation. Leading the way as the high selling individual and second high selling lot of the day was Lot 58, CB MS X Factor 468B5 from Cavender Brangus. This power packed female combined breed leading growth and carcass projections with a one of a kind smoothness and style, catching the watchful eye of Earl Bowman and Michelle Wilson of Shooting Star Land & Cattle, Lamesa, Texas, for $12,500.

When the gavel dropped on the final registered lot, 107 Registered Brangus lots averaged $5,533. Volume buyers were John T.L. Jones of Quanah, Texas, Headwaters Land and Cattle Co. of Van, Texas and Larry Franke of Karnes City, Texas.

The uniform commercial offering was highlighted by a big string of super fancy two year old Brangus pairs with a stout set of calves at side. The high-water mark was set by nine head of these flashy pairs from Cavender Ranches with 300# calves at side going to Charles May, Nocona, Texas, at $4,500. The sale at Neches River has proven over time to be a great source of bred and open heifers and the same held true again with repeat buyers flocking to acquire the goods. Longtime repeat buyer Sam Glass, Gonzales, Texas, acquired the top end out of both the bred and open heifers, selecting a set of 10 bred heifers from Leto Farms at $4,200 as well as the top cut of six open heifers from Suhn Cattle Company at $4,000. When the totals were tallied, 238 Brangus two year old pairs averaged $3,794, 39 heavy bred Brangus heifers averaged $3,378, 49 fall bred Brangus heifers averaged $3,551 and 47 open Brangus heifers averaged $2,915 for an aggregate of 373 commercial Brangus females that averaged $3,608. Volume buyers in the commercial offering were represented by Salacoa Valley Farms, Fairmount, Ga., and Ricky McKinnerney, Richland Springs, Texas, respectively.

Bill and Gail Davis will roll out their unrivaled hospitality November 6-7, 2015 at Chimney Rock Cattle Company for the next offering of GENETRUST genetics where 125 Brangus and UltraBlack bulls, 100 ELITE registered Brangus females and 300 commercial Brangus females will be offered for appraisal.
