Sorry to hear that, Wilson was a good looking rooster.

    Tetraploid Annual Ryegrass

I was pleased with it, can produce a tremendous amount of forage with right weather and fertile ground.

    Hereford bull

Yep, give that young bull about a year and some good grass to graze and he will look like a totally different animal. Calhoun can just wave and smile all the way to the bank with his salebarn check.

    Big Boy Jr.

Whew, for a while there following this thread was kind of like getting hooked on watching pro wrestling on tv; but I was pulling for you cowgirl. Your cows and calves look good and I like the red yearling bull.

    Horned Hereford -vs- Polled Hereford

Carlos, very nice bull, these bulls are examples of what in my opinion are the "right type" of beef bulls; low, long, deep, wide and easy fleshing. And no de-horning just makes a ranchers job easier.

    Horned Hereford -vs- Polled Hereford

Carlos; that bull isn't registered, he is just a calf maker being used on commercial crosbreed cows. I will have to pull out papers on his ancestors to give exact details, but he is from Domino bloodlines. My point in posting photo was that the old saying of "Breed the horns off, breed the a$$...

    How we've handled the droughts

Well as my dad used to say "Desperate times call for desperate measures". I can definitely say that the great drought of 2011 was "DESPERATE TIMES" for all cattlemen in this area that weren't just weekend ranchers or for ones that didn't have a lot of extra cash or unlimited credit or a...

    Coccidia from chickens??

Internet forums are a wonderful tool, but a lot of misinformation gets passed around, along with some good information; it would be nice if all posters were like you Lucky. This thread has been one with some very good information ! My experience has been that using sulfa boluses in combination...

    354 international or close

Got to unbolt and lift off the hydraulic reservoir tank under seat; it is cast steel, heavy. The 3 point rock-shaft and lift cylinder is then accessible.

    IH 684 tractor

I like em, a 684 that is in good condition will pull a 504 fine on flat land.

    johnson grass

Have to agree with OBB, "Johnson grass is my friend", in fact I like growing it almost as much as my cattle like eating it and getting fat on it.

Solar or battery hook up fence energizers?

The Southern States charger shown in photos is just a re-branded Parmak solar pac 12. The 12 volt ones are somewhat stronger than the 6 volt ones but twice as costly . The 6 volt solar pac 6 works just fine, I have 5 of those in use currently, some running 2 years constantly. They work so well...
