    LGD Discussion

I remember this story…amazing dog. Not sure mine could do what he did. We watched our LGD “work” four coyotes one morning. Saw the one initially, she engaged (meaning ran at it) as it moved closer vs further away to her communications. She moved it east easily then a 2nd one came from...

Suggestions on Angus bull to use ?

This was my thought too, looking purely at pedigree. However a visual often tells another story as I think @Travlr is correct in saying…breeding pedigree only, does not necessary check the right boxes.

    Can't catch a break

My in-laws had this car in navy. I remember a very smooth ride…like riding a boat in calm seas😂 Don’t mean to make light…prayers from🇨🇦 oh and it seems quite patriotic 🇺🇸with those cool stripes. Take care!

    Love baldie babies

We don’t often get a baldy! But today a blue roan commercial (2nd calver) delivered this little sweetie. 92 lbs. of pretty cute🥰 Last year’s calf was a blue roan so this was a bit of a surprise!

    One or Two?

Our commercials are going to town too. We also had a heifer calve this morning and she was unsure of the whole deal so baby got bottle and mama and calf got locked in a pen. Tonight when I got home babe was nursing and mama seemed fine with the deal, not totally sold but certainly on the road to...

    One or Two?

@Josher What are you thinking? Twins? Triplets? Been a few of those on this site, this year. A large single? 😂or are you just white knuckling it…

    One or Two?

My vote was a single calf. We did not consider size when we passed the pic here at home…single or twins was the question to the room. To me she looks contentedly well fed and getting close.

    One or Two?

It is funny how there is this notion that a big girl may have twins…we do it here too so no judgement!😊 Often we discover the ones that look like twins just have a single and the ones we don't expect pop out twins. Can't wait to hear the results. Divided thoughts in this family…we expect a...

Moved heifers and second calvers home.

🤣In our dreams…our place looks a lot like @gcreekrch…lots of snow on the ground, and green grass still a distant wish. (Sigh)

    Apple cider vinegar

We have applied vinegar to the new animal in the mix not everyone.

    Apple cider vinegar

@elkwc We too have had success with this technique. As @gizmom also indicated, does not end fighting but it does seem to minimize the nonsense. On a side note…You can do the same with chickens.

    Lutalyse for retained placenta

Disclaimer: I am not a vet so in my experience only…we will ideally estrumate or lutalyse 10-12 days post calving on a RP…over 30 years experience with this protocol. The zone is 10-14 days post calving so anytime in that timeframe is what we have been instructed. On hard calvings or assists we...
