    Ford 4000 thermostart info?

It "appears" to be leaking from the Thermostart Reservoir part # C5NN9N425B I got that word "thermostart" from the manual, or internet forums reference?, but it is referred to on diagrams as the intake heater (cold start) reservoir. going to have to make sure before I lay out that amount of...

    Ford 4000 thermostart info?

1972 Ford 4000 diesel. I have a major leak (drips) while running, looking at the manual it appears to be the thermostart reservoir? It is leaking all over the tank and down the tractor, it's such a mess it's hard to tell but it doesn't appear the fuel line is leaking. I can find VERY little...

    Seed plate #?

I'll check it out when I set it up to take back. I didn't notice any obvious ways to change it but I was under some pressure to get'r done. I had a really old one that was adjustable, I never used it but you could tell you could change ratios.

    Seed plate #?

Thanks for the help, we got it setup Tuesday night and he got it all planted the same night. Never did understand the "cog" changes, did not see any adjustment resembling this but the 24 cell plate put them pretty close to the 8" spacing in the yard. Setting the depth was a guessing game since...

    Seed plate #?

Thanks, ran out of daylight before I could get the corn in it but ran a small test with remaining soybeans (obvious it wasn't a soybean plate), will dial in tomorrow.

    Seed plate #?

My son is planting an acre or so of Reid's yellow dent corn. The bag has no info on it other than that it was tested and dates etc. I borrowed my cousin's 2 row planter that he bought and uses for food plots. It is an Allis Chalmers that has been cut down. It has a huge box of every seed plate...

    Rotary cutter gearbox

hurleyjd, thanks for the link, didn't see it on there though. Going to have to add it to my growing list of things to do.

    I will check that, thanks.

    Rotary cutter gearbox

I've already done that, Gap is too big and ran out, something is wrong. If I could find a name it would help me find a diagram so I could pinpoint but it's gone. Would rather not spend 600-1000 for a decent used one. I've put this one through heck and it's retired to small jobs.

    Rotary cutter gearbox

Can't find a diagram online for this type of gearbox. Mine is leaking, I notice some slight movement back and forth while engaged. The movement is this round plate on the rear moving in and out, don't have any other gearboxes shaped like this. Is it possible to repair this, or maybe I'm missing...

    Wider tires on ih574

This will help more than minor tire size changes, but still, 2wd with loader is just a pain in my experience. My tractor with no load in bucket and no ballast would get stuck just driving around the fields in winter and spring, and it had wheel weights and a lot of fluid. Couple of weeks ago...

    Wider tires on ih574

I highly doubt it would make a noticeable difference, still going to sink like crazy. Just my :2cents: , I would save my money and effort. The JD I had with larger tires was still helpless as a kitten in the winter on my property.

    Air coupling parts?

Not a big fan of HF, but they can't be any worse than the current ones from Lowe's and wherever else I was trying, Sears craftsman maybe? I'm not talking about a small leak here, they are really losing some air, pitiful. thanks, I'll try them, it's not rocket science, my really old ones still...

    Air coupling parts?

No, the threads are not what's leaking. It's the connection between male and female couplers/fittings when you attach tools.

    Air coupling parts?

I have used air tools for decades, all my old stuff does not leak. Seems like anything new I buy, whether male or female, leaks like a sieve. Is there anywhere I can get something that works? I'm getting fed up with this cheap overseas crap.

5' pull type shredder behind an 8n?

Replace your chains with angle or any scrap you have laying around, you can even bolt them to the outer holes if you don't want it permanently welded. This is common practice on N's I've driven them for years and can't stand dead lift or PTO, great woods tractor for pulling firewood, but...

5' pull type shredder behind an 8n?

Are you sure you don't have a 9N? 8N's should keep the lift position without chains unless there is a pretty good hydraulic leak past the seals. 9N's do not have "position control" causing the lift to go up and down constantly, and chains are frequently used to hog with. 9N's have different...
