Calling all you good diesel mechanics

Kenny, I think that they have smoother/flatter fields than we do. Anything much over 5 mph and I can't stay in the seat.

    New disc mower

I bought a 9 ft 2 in cut Krone in 2014 and all I have done to it is change blades a few times. This has been used to mow 125 acres of steep, rough ground twice a year. I only have a couple of fields that I can mow faster than 5 mph and stay in the tractor seat, and I spend more time looking...

    tell me about a 1997 f150 4.6 litre

Dad has had a 1998 4.6 with an auto for years as a run around truck. It has been a good little truck. As long as you are not towing heavy there are good engines.

    Vermeer 504r Classic Baler

I pull a 504 Signature with a 5083 (70 pto) and a 5100 (85 pto). On anything but flat ground the 5083 works its guts out. Most of the time you have to stay in B1 on steep ground (up to 28° according to my slope meter). On the 5100 I run out of nerve before I run out of speed on steep ground.

How will the 'Vette's 5.5-liter V8 effect GM Trucks

We ran a 52 1.5 ton Chevy with the 292 on this place for 40 years. It felt like it was struggling when empty. It was pathetic with a load of silage on it. That motor would not quit though. It did not make enough power to break anything.

New Ford Maverick at a bare-bones price....

Apparently I am the odd man out but I like it for a second truck. I only drive my ton trucks when towing or hauling. I use a 19 year old Ford escape for most everything else. I use it in the winter time daily to check cows and haul buckets of grain. It is light enough that it floats across...

    Drove in a sink hole

We got a few around here too. For size reference that is a 5 gallon bucket at the bottom of the hole.

Things are getting WAY out of hand

It might not be that bad of an idea. I think that a 4 cylinder direct injected turbo utility tractor with around 85 pto would sell well. Less emissions junk to deal with on a gas engine, easier to start in the cold, and gas usually being cheaper than diesel would just about make up for the...

    504r signature reviews?

I have weighed the bales out of my signature. In 16% mosture hay they average 875 lbs. I buy about a third of my hay and weigh a few from each person I buy from every year. I have saw 4x5 bales weighed as little as 500 lbs. Most are around 700 lbs. Very few bales weigh as much as people...

    504r signature reviews?

No clue. It is still under warranty so the dealer gets to figure that out.

    504r signature reviews?

The latch did not release when the gate tried to open. Both hydraulic cylinders were pretziled.

    504r signature reviews?

I have put 700 bales through mine. It is a good baler but not perfect. It eats hay very well and is very hard to plug, but the netwrap is finicky. It misses about 1 in every 50 bales completely, and wads the wrap up in the middle on about twice that often. The twine has been flawless. But...

    Disc Mowers?

Krones have a roll pin under the turtle that shears off. If you ever shear one a punch, hammer, and $2 roll pin will have you back mowing.

Krone. My 283 has been one of the most trouble free piece of equipment on the farm.

    Lady Equipment Auction

Kenny, do you remember what the JD 2950 near the back row brought? It had 2,900 hours on it if I remember right. They had some decent stuff and some that needed to to the scrap yard.

    Looking for a 29-35hp tractor

That is a good looking tractor. I stopped and looked at one last week. $21,500 with remote on rear and loader for the shuttle shift version at my local dealer. Not a bad price in my book for what you are getting.

    Looking for a 29-35hp tractor

All new diesels are tier 4, but below 75 hp does not require DEF to meet emissions standards.
