Why do they use the oxide form if it needs to be different form? I see a lot of oxides in this label. The Zinc, iron, magnesium, and manganous all are oxide. Looks like they would get the palable form to use. What is manganous ?
This is my newest find of minerals that are made locally. I’m sticking with this one until I can find better. Anything you see good or bad about this mineral here.
Sounds to me you maybe more right than wrong. Mineral balance is a very important part in any animal’s diet. Problem I have is finding what I need. I called and talk with my county agent and he said most any mineral for cattle will work fine. Made me scratch my head. When I had 4+ head of goats...
So if I understand correctly, your saying that the magnesium shows min 16% and max 20%, then because it is in oxide form that they will only absorb maybe half the values? Like maybe min 8% and max 10% if your lucky?
Still haven't found a VitaFirm dealer close by but my local feed store Carries a High Mag mineral. My county agent said it was a good mineral but I'm listening. Look at the content label. It's high in calcium and magnesium and salt isn't as high as the old one I had. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks, I just worry about these reports where good looking calves should be bringing 1.75-2.00+ but getting .70-.85 per lb. I just hadn’t really notice the extra long hair on this one but what you say makes sense.
Thanks, I’ll get the pic in the morning. Hopefully my vet will be back in office on Tuesday and I can get info on my minerals for this area. Do you think cobalt blocks would be ok for the cows? I have 2-3 left over from my goats I had.
