    Pigs

Hereford Hogs are a breed created in the early 1900's in Missouri. They are still mostly found in the Midwest. Here are a couple of links you may find interesting: http://www.herefordhog.org/ http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/swine/hereford/index.htm http://www.albc-usa.org/cpl/hereford.html

I have a pure bred horned Hereford heifer bottle calf. She is 1.5 weeks old now and I was curious what would be a reasonable price to ask for her?

    Pigs

vanner, We wanted to try a heritage breed so we started looking through the ALBC web site and saw that the Herefords were on their threaten list of hogs. We did some research and found that they were supposed to be good pasture pigs and well adapted to our area as the breed was created in...

Need Help - Wiring Brakes on Cattle Trailer

Yes, I'm connecting the 6 pin large round connector on the truck via a plastic adaptor to the round 6 pin metal connector on the trailer. As mentioned earlier however, the trailer is only wired with 5 wires.

Need Help - Wiring Brakes on Cattle Trailer

dcara, Yes, the bundle I was referring to was on the trailer and I did test and verify each wire with a tester. I think you are exactly correct. I think my friend's truck must have the brake controller output attached to the "Stop" light pin on the 5 pin connector. I think I'll have to have...

    Another electric fence gate question

I also hung one of these on the fence close to the entry gate. At a glance (coming or going), I can tell that the fence is hot.

    Another electric fence gate question

I wasn't able to find bungee cord when I went to build a couple of wide gates so I used polyrope. It doesn't seem to have any problem carrying the load across the opening. These gates are rarely opened and share a fence line with the neighbors nasty Longhorns so I wanted to make sure they were...

    Building Gates with Poly Rope

Thanks for all the replies. I did some checking around and apparently there is a national bungy cord shortage in the US. I was told by several suppliers that they don't even know when they will have it back in stock. So it looks like for now at least I'll use the poly rope and then go back and...

    Building Gates with Poly Rope

Dun, I've seen the "bungy" rope sold on a roll. Could you please tell me in detail how you attach each end of the cord? What post hooks, handles, etc. do you use? I'm guessing you pull power from the handle side correct?

    Building Gates with Poly Rope

I have several large gate openings in my high tensile electric fence that would be very expensive to purchase gates for. Thought I might use poly rope and spring handles to build the gates. I was wondering if anyone had some good designs (or first hand experience) for gates built using poly rope?

    Line Breeding

You may want to consider purchasing "The Basis of Linebreeding" by Jim Lents. I have included a link to a thread discussing this book. http://cattletoday.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37433&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=lents

How Many Wires - Fence Weaning

Dun, So how are the fences used as switches? When you open the fence it kills all the fencing on the other side? This would shut down a lot of fence line correct? JH

    Fencing the KIWI Way

Those aren't posts...they're battens to hold the spacing on the wires. David told me they have plenty of lumber over there. JH

How Many Wires - Fence Weaning

Can you give me some more specifics? How exactly are they wired? I think I also read a post of yours where you were using a switch to turn off the bottom wire. Can I ask why you needed to do that? JH
