    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

Just kidding... I'd guessed 2485 so was trying to get there from here, LOL.

A couple hundred pounds shrinkage would put him at 2480. So that's the final figure?

Short and stout... I'll go with 2480.

They make me sweat. I just can't see where there is any room in these prices for any kind of unanticipated risk.

    Pay day

The sale I went to yesterday had a bunch of solid black first calf heifer pairs, February calves, and they were going up to $3600

Sale I went to today sold 106 Corriente cross steers, 900+ pounds and dehorned, sell for $1.51. I really don't get it. I also saw 500# steers sell for $200 more than their 200# heavier brothers from the same place.

    Feeder futures

I couldn't have said it better myself... Just speculating on people and the current trend to chase a "premium"...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

While I agree there are "better" dealerships... I've never seen one that wouldn't take advantage of a customer if they could. About the only thing that stops the "good" ones is plausible deniability, IMO. I've seen women go into a dealership to buy a new car, and sold a used car for more than...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

LOL... I've worked for four dealerships, all GM, and one a cash buyer for the vehicles they sold while the others floored vehicles. Fleet sales handled similarly but differently by each one. Sorry if I insulted you by stating what I've experienced differently. And I've met people in dealerships...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

I've been buying wrecked vehicles from Copart. Insurance companies will total vehicles for light and easily repaired damage. I've bought two 2012 Tacomas with 68/72K miles, five and three years ago, one for just under 10K and one just over... and I fixed them in my driveway for less than $500...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

The dealerships started to make it a strategy back in the eighties, to sell upgrades by telling people that the resale value would be higher on a "loaded" vehicle. The add-ons would often be as much as the base model. And the public bought it. But the bells and whistles are the most likely thing...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

There sure seem to be a lot of people that will pay anything that's asked, and they like to tell everyone what they paid as though it's a status symbol to be able to afford the payments.

The global warming, vegans and Peta have probably got the ear of the government and they are quietly (so far) buying up as many cattle as possible to minimize methane. Printing money to do it.

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

That's why I've always preferred them. Get two or three calves and sell them for what you paid for them.

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Just to put it out there. You can buy the cheap ones and get average calves and only occasionally something good enough to retain, or you can spend a few pennies a pound more (maybe $50?) and get some really good cows that will improve your herd fast. A lot of cows culled for age are better than...

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Maybe... I hope so. But it might go the other way. People selling their heavy cows due to prices being high and price being a factor of pounds. Keeping their skinny cows? That would be an interesting thing to find out. I don't believe many people know a lot about selecting animals. There sure...
