Electric Fence Problem - Arching at Ground Rod

I had to put a temporary electric fence up a couple of years ago and rather that use a ground rod I just tied it to an old 1/2" steel cable that was submerged in the creek for about 20'. That was the best darn ground I ever had. Even though it was a battery powered charger, it would sure knock...

Electric Fence Problem - Arching at Ground Rod

But remember, if you have very dry conditions for a while, you may need to add water to the soil around them. Don't ask me how I know. 🤷‍♂️

Electric Fence Problem - Arching at Ground Rod

I wondered that myself. But he did say he was getting 2.2 at the fence, so I ruled that out.

Electric Fence Problem - Arching at Ground Rod

The whole "miles" thing on fence chargers is just marketing. What really matters is the joules of output. My guess is that the output on your charger is about 2-3 joules (normally they tie output to miles for marketing purposes). The normal recommendation is a minimum of 3 ground rods. However...

Electric Fence Problem - Arching at Ground Rod

There are a lot of unanswered questions here. What is the size of your charger? How close to the charger is the ground rod and is it really 6' deep in the ground? Have you checked to make sure you do not have a short somewhere, ie against a metal post, touching the ground? Pour some water...

Inland Industrial Supply Selling ?? Scam??

Have your lawyer write them a letter and tell them that you are going to charge them storage for things you did not order and that if they want the items returned they need to arrange pick up and them pay the cost. It is an old scam.

Submersible Electric Water Trough Heater for Cattle and Horses

Can one of the electrical experts explain to me why that would be the case? As long as everything has the proper ground, you use a heavy enough cord, and is protected from the elements, why would it matter? My guess is someone has tried to plug the heater into a cheap Dollar Store Cord that is...
