    Spring is over I guess.

We hit 104F two weeks ago and this was jut the temp. The trick is to get started early and acclimate yourself as the temp rises and under no circumstances go in any place that has air conditioning becaue it will ruin you. If you do it like this its not too bad.

    Foreign land ownership

Trade war or not that seems to be the way things work now. The last administration gave $50 million dollars to a bunch out of Germany to build a factory about an hour from my house with promises they would create X number of jobs. This company was built less than 50 miles from an american...

Is climbing Mount Everest on your bucket list?

I read on the internet the reason there are so many people climbing Everest is it is much cheaper than the permit to shoot an elephant which is $60,000. Who'd have thought so many people wanted to shoot elephants. :pop:

    random septic tank inspections

Have a friend who puts in septic tanks and he gave the inspector a motorcycle and gives him a case of Jack Daniels for Christmas each year and all his septic systems pass inspection without any trouble whatsoever even if they are not up to code.

The Illusive Zero Percent Interest Rate

Just keep 'em on the line as long as you can because if you hang up they'll be calling me. Just imagine you are wrestling with a 10 lb cat on an ultra-lite with 4# test.

The Illusive Zero Percent Interest Rate

It used to pizz me off too but they would simply call again and again. Now, like you, I enjoy their calls when I have the time. The way I see it, if time permitting, my keeping them on the phone for 10-20 minutes is keeping them from calling you or swindling some poor old lady. One might see...

The Illusive Zero Percent Interest Rate

I keep getting calls from telemarketers promising 0% interest on my credit card because I have such good credit history and make my payments on time - even trying to pay more each month but every time I get one of these calls they end up cussing me out after I've spent a lot of time hunting for...

You have a million bucks and are 35 years old. What do you do?

Without a good scribe how is one to remember the finer details? A scribe is paramount to success in anything.

You have a million bucks and are 35 years old. What do you do?

Hiring a full time scribe would be top on my list.

    Mental Health of Farmers

I think a good reset for many farmers I know would be to spend some time brushing up on finance and opportunity costs. Missed opportunity costs is the killer in my view and causes a lot of stress and problems. Many farmers have the mindset that paying taxes is a bad thing and when they make...

    Employee pay

Been a while now but friend of mine was making a little over $60,000 with a truck and fuel provided. Job required more than just feeding cows though. Another friend got about the same pay and benefits and was also given a home to live in.

    Thought Provoking

What I took away from her lecture is that oil and coal is something that is made every day from a continuous process. Seemed the real problem would be if our removals are faster than the earth's ability to create it. I don't know the answer to this but I suspect we have ample time to find...

    Thought Provoking

I listened to a scientist lecture on this very thing. She made a good argument. The original link that mentioned using up water reminded me of a fella I knew who believed in this and invested his life's savings in a waterless car wash business which gave him the sole and unrestricted right to...

    Thought Provoking

I'm of the belief a big azz asteroid is going to nail us before we run out of oil and coal. If I'm wrong, I think we will make some major breakthroughs in alternative energy sources in the future and think a carbon tax is silly and akin to giving a heroin addict free dope in hopes it will...

    moving day

I'm sure the change is exciting but the moving part I could do without. Spent this week moving all the stuff out of someone's home and though it didn't look like much it was surprising how much was in their home. Good luck with your move and the new page in your life.

Is china the new us for world beef trade?

I believe China has a lot more people than their census claims as well. Many of them are "non-citizens" - mostly women - who were born during time China only allowed one child per household. Under their hukuo system having a second child meant paying a huge fine and in their culture and the...

Is china the new us for world beef trade?

Sounds reasonable and I doubt many Chinese are vegan or are worried about flatulence in cattle.

Don’t tell people what you know, KEEP THEM POOR!

How are you going to make money in cattle if you don't invest in feed, high quality cattle and the most expensive semen or bulls you can finance? Haven't you learned anything from this thread? Feeding $20-25 dollar hay! You got to be kidding me. I wouldn't be surprised if the humane society...

Good video. Lots of truth in that.

    Marketing or bashing

I was taught you mince meat not your words. What's going to become of these people who buy into the idea that the average non holistic cattleman fills their troughs with LA200 and buy these holistic super duper meat sticks then figure out they have been fed a load of BS? Do you think they will...
