Dexter bull and Dexter steer buddy

Greetings, thought I'd add an undated picture of Dusty my bull, now nine months old and the new friend I got for him, four months old. It's amazing how much calmer my bull is now. Enjoy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/ ... 0_0079.jpg

    Minature Holstein

I have a Dexter bull, and pondered that idea of getting a dairy cow to put with him. Haven't given up the thought, just the few I've seen are much taller than he is?

    Dexter Cattle

I have an eight month old dun Dexter bull. I love him. Next year I'll be looking at heifers and cows. Great breed and nice attitudes.

    Bull

I like smooth heads, so the black would be my first choice of the two. However, I really like the red highland. Lots of body and I like that too.

Thanks, and I'm getting him from a lady here in WA. She has a couple cows and a bull. He'll be 'lawn ornament' status :)

    Dexter steer

I visited my dexter steer today. 2 1/2 months old. I get him mid December at weaning. He'll be the pasture buddy for my bull. He's maybe 24" on his tippy-hoofs. I love the attitude look. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/ ... 0_0058.jpg

    What is everyone's choice breed?

I like the little guys... Dexter's. Dual breed meat and milk, docile temperment and easy to handle by myself. I personally prefer polled.

    Dexter bull

 Every day I answer the question at work "How's the cow?" At first I'd tell them he's a bull, not a cow. Now I just smile and say he is doing great. Thank you for all the positive comments about our Dexters

    Dexter bull

Sounds like the sharing with a calf is the way to go. Thanks. Monica, got the bull from Lazy J5. Great people to know and nice animals. I drank my first glass of cold fresh out-of-cow milk at their place. I was amazed at the difference than from store bought. The scenery is truly...

    Dexter bull

Greetings Monica, Your cow is very nice. I like the deep girth and she has a really nice straight top line. My bull will be seven months old, Oct 3rd. I have not weighed him, but his sire is 44" tall and weighs 1000lbs. The cow is 42". Picked him up in Colorado this summer. I may have...

    Dexter bull

Thanks Cherokeeruby for getting the picture! Teasing is fine, I know where it come's from :P By the breed description, Dexter bulls are to range 38" to 44" tall. Cows are smaller. Colors run solid black, red or dun. I went looking for the dun color and polled when I wanted a bull. I...

    bull breeding age

Ask the vet what to expect after the shot. Boarded a mare once on 20 acres. Guy dropped off a two year old 'gelding' .... except that he bred a few mares before someone looked closer  Mine having been seen 'caught,' I had the vet out. After the shot, my poor mare started sweating real...

    bull breeding age

Does it harm the bull, mentally or physically, to breed at an early age? I read that you shouldn't (on purpose) before he is a year.
