j.d. 494 corn planter

Recently bought a 494 corn planter. Trying to find a operators manual. Is the 494a manual the same. The planter I have has the fert.boxes. Also what size hyd.cylinder does it need? Thanks Dan

I had a 494A planter years ago , the 494A was a later version of 494 most of the basic parts should be the same . They were good planters in their time , if you don't have a lot to plant and have level ground , it will work fine.There were a lot of them around years ago.

I was going to try and plant 10 acres and see how it works out. The max. I would ever plant would be 20 acres. Shelled corn around here goes for about $15. a hundred. Dan
