Putting the kubota to work

Help Support CattleToday:

When our tanks get like that they can be a never ending pit.

We had a pipeline company offer to expand a tank for us if they could use the dirt for fill to haul up and down the line where sections had sunk. My dad gave them them go ahead but told them they had to clean out the existing part also. They ended up with like 3 pieces of equipment stuck in it before it was all said and done. 😄

Update on the pond work. Tractor still fully functional just needs pressure washed and greased. Now just need some more rain to fill her up if it'll still hold water.

you did a really nice job! Looks great.

I wouldn't worry about "mud and grime" and "overloading your front axle" You can do run a piece of equipment the right way for most type of work and still do it just fine even if it isn't designed for that task.

I'll leave these pictures here of what's currently in my shop. Used for cleaning out some ditches and a pond. Mud got worked into the seal and ruined it. So for the 2nd time in 5k hours the customer will end up paying me about 5k bucks to rebuild the front axle. So it cost him well over 10k to clean his pond and ditches.

2nd time in 5,000 hours is a lot of hours. Not disagreeing with you that it is hard on the equipment and you have a valid argument but keep the maintenance up and keep her greased. I bought the tractor to use. End up doing all the mechanic work myself on my vehicles because I can't justify paying someone else the labor. A tractor isnt any worse than my trucks or cars. Seems like anymore you can't find anyone to trust to do the work you need done just wanted to do it myself for the pond and the kubota is what I had to do it with.

I have 2 loader tractors with nearly 15k hours and have done one front end repair in that time. They load hay and occasionally some manure. No mud ground into the seals and bearings. "Keeping it greased" is great but it doesn't prevent mud and silt from entering seals and destroying surfaces and bearings.

And the customers current bill is up to almost 7k bucks because the bearing/seal surfaces on the knuckles are gouged up to bad to use.

As a mechanic I hope my neighbor keeps doing what he's doing. 5-7k bucks is a good payday and all the specialty tools I've purchased for that axle just keep earning me money. Haha

Again not arguing with you about how hard it is on the equipment

A willingness to take on the challenge, a legitimate reason to do some mud bogging, the feeling of satisfaction in getting the job done yourself is priceless. I mean you saved yourself some money and at the same time got to enjoy a recreational activity that others would love to participate in.
:) And, depending on a few variables, you may contribute to someone else's livelihood........
