Walked when 2 feet of this guy twice opening and closing a gate . Only saw him when I got back in the Polaris. Copper head . Looks big in the pic . One of the smaller ones I've killed over the years . First one at the cattle farm .

I have seen several bull snake and gardener snakes in the last week or so. That means the rattlers will be showing up soon. But it is cold enough today that any snake would be moving very slow.

I looked all around the gate because I didn't want to encounter another one ! Short handled shovel in my Polaris is fixing to get traded for one with a long handle !

I have one of those but they don't dig up thistle , fill in around the salt feeder , or open up a ditch

That is the reason why. Only snakes UP here are little gardener snakes.

To me, it tastes only like whatever it was seasoned with and breaded with. Not to mention all those rib bones to deal with and really very little meat. .

Saw a nice size moccasin that was quicker than I was.
