heres my 2cents I use the signs to wean and also the fenceline weaning I have noticed a difference I also castrate by the signs and have noticed better healing and less stress also they do bleed less I have seen this for myself
I worked for a large animal vet over 25 yrs ago and you would notice considerable less bleeding when the signs were in the feet and legs and she commented that it did make a difference on the castrating and she had done some studies on it and was convinced it made a difference
No she did not only castrate by the signs but did notice a difference in bleeding and healing and stress on the calves
So use whatever method you want to but please just because you don't have scientific evidence on papre don't discredit what people have been doing for centuries unless you do have the scientific evidence that it doesn't work
