One of my cows is acting kind of dumpy, a little slower than normal coming in for feed. Today I noticed her upper jaw is swollen on one side. Any suggestions as to what can be wrong Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Tom

Sorry to hear about the trouble. It could be a number of things. It could be swelling as a result of trauma to the head, an abscess or abscess tooth, or something like lumpy jaw. Can you tell if the swelling is firm or soft? Do you have any pictures?

Try and get a good look at her and figure it out before she 'loses cud' and stops eating.. AJ said all the causes I could think of already

If the problem is not obvious and you can't fix it, it may be time to haul her to your veterinarian or have your vet make a farm call. She may need antibiotics that you can only buy from a veterinarian.
Good luck.
