A local hobby farmer rents a mini farm, but doesn't live there. Recently he bought a single cow. I think she stayed in over night. Found her walking down the middle of the highway. No other cows or fences for miles. Ended up roping her, loaded her on the trailer in the middle of a corn field. I had her at my place for a day and a half before the owner got a hold of me. Thanked me, gave me $50 for my trouble. He saw some of my cows and asked about my bulls and their availability. I told him my bulls were busy.
11:30 last night I got a call from the county Sheriff's office; cattle out on the highway. No one could find them last night. There's two cows now. Found them tonight. Ended up roping them, snubbed them to a couple trees, went and got the trailer, and hauled them back to my place. Called the owner, he didn't even know they were missing. I offered to keep them a couple days so he could get his fence fixed. He mentioned the bulls again and I got to thinking. I could put them in with my long horn/Corriente hfrs and bull. If I keep them and feed them for six weeks and let them play patty cake with my bull is $500 total to much to charge?
I could really care less about his hobby cows, but if I have them for six weeks, that will be six weeks that they stay off the highway.
