I just saw where the guy that started Amazon is worth 100 billion dollars. How many zeros is that?

I hope this is interpreted as I intend it.

I believe I am as rich as he is.
There was once a time that I had desires for riches, but I found wealth in other places.
Today I helped a young person that was in a situation very similar to my own years ago buy a car to get to work everyday.
Many years ago all I needed was a hand up, but I was mostly taken advantage of and kicked down.
I received a hand up from a good old man that took a chance on me. That's all I needed, A little push start, a hand up.

This past weekend I spent a night in a cheap hotel and ate a McDonald's breakfast.
I fished all morning then cooked shrimp and mushrooms on the grill at the lake.
Then fished all afternoon and came home to some fat lazy cows and relaxed in the shade.
This morning I drank coffee, watched the sunrise and had breakfast.
I visited with a good friend for awhile, rode around the pasture and enjoyed the day.
I've spent the day preparing dinner for tonight and will have left overs for days.
I have a few long hard days this week but it makes me appreciate my time off even more.
I may not have a 100 billion but I feel very rich

There is the old question about who is more "satisfied", the guy with a million dollars or the one with a dozen kids.

The guy with the dozen kids cause he doesn;t want any more!

It's amazing how priorities change as you age. When l was younger l wanted millions of dollars, now l just want a few cows and enough land so my neighbors aren't too close.

I bet he hopes we never turn to socialism.
He is a major advocate.. Go figure.. In 2013, Bezos purchased The Washington Post newspaper.

Rephrase ... publicly he states he wants progressivism. Just like Warren Buffett (who learned this from Katherine Graham, the former owner of the Washington Post), Bill Gates, and so many other uber wealthy people. They state this belief publicly so it may immunize them (at least to some degree) from people actually wanting to take their money / stuff in the event of some sort of calamity.

The definition of progressive is code for socialist - Progressivism is the support for or advocacy of improvement of society by reform. As a philosophy, it is based on the Idea of Progress, which asserts that advancements in science, technology, economic development, and social organization are vital to the improvement of the human condition.

Definition of social democracy. 1 : a political movement advocating a gradual and peaceful transition from capitalism to socialism by democratic means. 2 : a democratic welfare state that incorporates both capitalist and socialist practices.

Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterized by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production, as well as the political theories and movements associated with them.

And here I figured dun was wondering how many zero's to put after the "1" in his age...

Happy birthday, you old coot!

Well said. I hope this come across the way I intend it to. I remember literally deciding that I knew how I could become rich but not wanting to do what I would have to do to be rich. There are more ways to measure wealth than money. And now because of inheritance and sale of property the wife and I have more money than either one of us ever thought we might have. But currently we are living in a 12 by 60 single wide and the newest of our four vehicles is a 2008 model and we are content and very happy with where we are in life.
I saw a post on facebook where someone asked the question, where in the world could you go with all the money you have in the bank? Most people answered things like, "the end of the driveway." And they complained about how broke they are. I didn't reply. With the money in the bank I could go anywhere in the world but I am happy where I am.
