I can remember most of these on the list , but not fat and ugly teachers. I loved all of my teachers and do not remember any being fat and ugly. I looked up to them with great respect and wanted to grow up and be just like them. I wonder today how many students want to be just like their teachers. My heart breaks when almost daily I read or hear something terrible that a teacher has done.
After teaching myself for 39 years and three years as a half day teacher for at risk students, I surely hope none of my students remember me as fat and ugly. I tried to always look, act, live, and teach my very best.

Oh yes, I started off in 1968 with a four year college degree in elementary education making $100 a week. Got paid one month at the time $400. The next year got a little raise and made $433.33 a month. The next year $444.44. The salary was not a problem. I was doing what I felt like God called me to do and loved every minute of it. Almost every minute!

Curb feelers? I'm guessing you haven't visited the east side of any big cities lately :)

How about starter pedals on floor?
Then they moved them to the dashboard!
Two gearshifts one 5 speed one 3 speed?
Learned to drive a tandem truck hauling a bulldozer with a 5 and 3. Top speed downhill might have been 50. If you missed a gear you had to pull off the road and start over.

PF Fliers

Hootenanny

Captain Kangaroo

Big Huge candy bars. 5 cents.

Metal Tonka trucks. Still got mine from the 60's

Lillooet BC used to have a championship CanCan dancing group...

I have been thinking of converting my truck to the high beam dimmer on the floor!... Already did it in our land cruiser because the switch screwed up anyhow.
Our Ford County, JD model B and Allis HD6 all have the starters on the floor

Most everything we have has a carburator unless it's diesel... I'm pretty darned good at tuning them too... Except for the Carter POS's on Dodge Slant 6's.. those were incorrigible!

110 and 35mm film? 8mm movies?
Dinky toys? (I have a whack of them)
Warner brothers cartoons.. the good ones that were drawn by hand... It amazes me that the more technology makes it possible for people to make a GOOD product, the more they cheap out and make garbage, and modern cartoons (south park, spongbob, etc) are great examples of it

It's funny how many people wave at me in the Model A when I stick my arm out the window to give the hand/arm signals since it doesn;t have turn signals.

I am 66 and I do not want to go back to those ''good old days'', you folks can have my share!
