    Red Gelbvieh cattle.

He is a very impressive bull as well as his son Exact Combination. I have seen both in person at different events.
  2. hillsdown

    Red Gelbvieh cattle.

I thought that heifer looked familiar. Fantastic line up with some powerful central Alberta, Canada genetics.

    looking for Gelbvieh in NY

We just released semen on this bull in the US, unfortunately he sold out in less than 24 hours. If you go to the membership directory at gelbvieh.org and find a breeder closer to you. Check our DV auctions, lots of really good GV bull sales at this time...

    Gelbvieh/Angus F1s

Hereford is the best cross I have seen in that scenario.

    continental Breeds at the Ekka

Gelbvieh and Pied breeders should have stayed home!!! :???: Although that GV cow is doing her job really well. NOT a good representation of the breeds at all. Luv that blk simmi cow!!!!!

Sky did such a Good Job

All the calves look sassy! :D It is really nice to see all that green around, here's hoping everyone has more grass than they know what to do with this year. It is just starting to green up here, not like all of your though. :tiphat:

    Gelbvieh 4H steer

Thanks CF! I doubt that the Canadian show animals are any more "real world" than anywhere else. This guy won't win. I doubt he will place very well either. Wrong breed, but this is what we bring to the beef market in the real world so it is what it is and what we have to work with. They do...

    KEEP OR CULL HEREFORD BULLS

Our vet tech and I were just laughing about that exact same thing this morning. I think its a guy thing so they can say "my bull has bigger buts than yours" I can't count the number of times that is the first question someone asks when inquiring about a bull. If they pass their semen...

    Gelbvieh 4H steer

Thank you! He has come a long way compared to last year. He actually feeds them on the weekends/holidays and checks them everyday, brings them fresh bedding etc. I hope Mr. Hillsdown will be home for the show. My nephew is not ready to be left alone at the show by himself and get all done that...

    KEEP OR CULL HEREFORD BULLS

If you are happy with his calves and he is getting everyone bred in a timely manner then I think that would be the biggest issue, not his nut size.

    KEEP OR CULL HEREFORD BULLS

Here is a good link http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/liv ... 06-015.htm 34 for a 4 year old is not very good. How does he test every year when you semen test? The smallest scrotal we had this year was 38cm on one of the yearlings that I sold, he was 12 months and 2 days old when tested...

    Gelbvieh 4H steer

Yes home raised but I think I made the right choice on him. I love his color, his depth and his length but he does have faults that feed have covered up. If he was muscled like a bull would be at this age you would definitely see those faults and I don't think he would have been very desirable...

    Gelbvieh 4H steer

Last year all of the winners were around 1500 lbs and most were Jan calves. He weighed in at 805lbs but I had started him on feed already in Sept. I doubt that he can keep the ROG going steady until show, GV's usually taper off towards the end and just maintain. I just bumped him up to 35 lb of...

My Werner War Party calves and stuff

That is a nice looking group you have!

    Gelbvieh 4H steer

I think this is a really nice steer but, I may have blinders on and am missing some very important faults. Show is in 2 months and mock show in a month, he weighs a tad under 1400 lbs and his DOB is March 8 2014. o First brushing today, so he still has a long way to go as far as fitting...
