This is not a fair question. There's so many! If I had to choose one, I'd go to a medieval fair and watch the battle games, walk around, and enjoy the blast. I think that would be so cool.

So many to choose from.
The Chicxulub impact.
The 1883 Krakatoa eruption.
The Alamo.
The eruption of Mt Vesuvius and destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum in 79ad.

But just one--to be an observer and a proverbial fly on the wall?
The 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.

Yep. And to be able to take a modern history book with me...

I'm simple. I want to go back and watch some of the fences I see in my country being built. The stone walls are interesting but I want to see how the woven wire fences went up fifty miles from the nearest road at the time. I want to see the barbed wire that is not a round wire but a strip of sheet metal that they twist and add barbs to be produced and go up.
I already know how most of it was done, I just want to rub elbows with the guys that did it.

I saw the Alamo on TV the other night. John Wayne died. :cry2:

Standing outside of the tomb on day three.
