Baby calves with a case of the runsl

Just an FYI. Those are not baby calves and they look older than a couple of months old.

Baby calves with a case of the runsl

I would take a stool sample to the vet. How long have they been weaned?

    Cattle and Buffalo

If they were going through the fence they would have done it by now. having bison next door as far as disease goes isn't any different if they were cattle. the bison are probably worth more than your cattle anyways. you should see how much the meat costs and people line up to buy it.

    What to do about horns???

Good deal. We had all of our kids show cattle cosmetically dehorned. Our vet does a beautiful job. They all look like they were born polled.

    dumpy cow

If the problem is not obvious and you can't fix it, it may be time to haul her to your veterinarian or have your vet make a farm call. She may need antibiotics that you can only buy from a veterinarian. Good luck.

Hay Belly in Calf - Help Please!

If she were mine, I would separate her from the other livestock ASAP. When a bunch of animals eat together, you have no idea how much feed any of them are getting. It is usually one or two critters wolfing everything down and keeping the others away. If the straw on the ground is the hay that...

Hay Belly in Calf - Help Please!

The Producer's Pride feeds are very low quality. If you need to buy your feed from TSC, buy the Purina 4-Square Stocker Grower. It has 14% protein and is a pellet. I use it in our creep feeder. A good quality hay is important for her too. Like the others mentioned, she may need to be...

cow born without tail and anus (update)

congratulations on the healthy calf. I agree with cowgirl8 about giving an animal another chance. I had a foal born with a fatal birth defect. The mare never had another with birth defects. Sometimes things do not develop as nature intended. cowgirl8, I am thankful for the doctors who saved...

    Pain relief for cattle

    Pain relief for cattle

I agree with Lucky_P about talking to your veterinarian. There are drugs that can be given to cattle, but they are not approved for bovine use.

    Vetericyn

You can make Dakin's Solution and it does the same thing for less money. It is a solution formulated during WWI for wounds. My husband had a slow healing wound on his foot and his doctor used 1/4% solution to treat it. Healed great. http://www.virginia.edu/uvaprint/HSC/pdf/09024.pdf...

Some days are Diamonds, Today was a Stone

I'm sorry Ron. The sense of disappointment and loss of what could have been is a horrible feeling. I hope that today is better for you.

    healed castration pictures please

maybe flush was the wrong word, but you don't band them half way down the scrotum. Our calves are banded when they are a couple of days old and they don't get that pouch.

New calf from auction - weak, diarrhea, not taking bottle

be careful with the electrolytes, you can over do them. Read the package about the dosage. She needs the milk more than the electrolytes. Milk is her nutrition - protein and fat. Electrolytes do not have any nutritional value. It's good that she will drink water from a bucket. Good luck...

    healed castration pictures please

Then you do not know how to band. The band should be flush against the calf, not partway down the scrotum.
